We stock some wool rocks as part of our regular inventory. These 'rocks' are hand made in South Africa as part of a job creation program for women there. They are needle felted wool made to look like real rocks. They come in variety of colors and sizes. We stock the smaller ones which range from 2" to about 13" in diameter. They are shown and described on our regular website - www.woolythread.com. However, recently a woman contacted me about wanting to purchase some of our wool rocks, but she wanted them to be really big - boulder size. She is using them for display, as well as, for extra seating and as ottomans. We got them for her and she graciously sent me pictures of them in her home, so I could share them with you.
Look what we just found for kids - and kids at heart.
This is delightful new book for young children. It is a hard cover book with book jacket published in 2008. It is written by Leslie Helakoski and illustrated by Lee Harper. It tells the story of Woolbur the little sheep who likes to do things his own way - like carding his own wool, playing on the spinning wheel, and not following the flock. Woolbur's escapades entertain, as well as, educate as they take the reader through the steps involved in processing wool. It is about 30 pages and each one is full of beautiful illustrations to delight any child - or adult. Price: $16.00
The newest issue of Australian Smocking and Embroidery magazine has arrived. Subscriber issues will be sent out tomorrow. Extra copies are available. Contact us for details or go to our website - it should be updated shortly.
We just got word from Ottobre that the prices will go up approximately 6% on the first day of the new year. As the time gets closer, we'll post exact prices in US dollars. Of course, as always, the exchange rate will impact what the actual dollar amount will be on January 1, 2009. We've had record sales these past few weeks, due primarily to being able to offer the lowest prices we've had in more than 2 years. If you've been thinking about getting a subscription or renewing a current subscription, now would be a good time - before the prices increase.
